Have You Sung in the Rain?

Did you sing in the rain yesterday? I didn’t, but I loved watching the film. And I couldn’t think of a better way to start my first day of school—sitting in a movie theater on a cold wintry day watching Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, and Donald O’Connor light up the big screen. What a talented trio—watching them sing and dance immediately brought a smile to my face. You could feel the happiness in the theater—it’s no wonder that this movie is in the top ten of the American Film Institute’s Best Movies of all Time.
Singing and dancing, whether you’re watching it or doing it, can provide us with so much happiness. It helps us forget about the world for a little while and simply be entertained. It is an open display of human creativity and talent, and I think that is something to be treasured and marveled at. Features like “Singing in the Rain” are timeless pieces because the humor is genuine, the talent is outstanding, and the heart-felt emotions are the same now as they were back in 1952 when the film was released.
I highly encourage you to see this picture if you haven’t done so already—it is worth every minute of your time. And while you may feel a little silly, I hope you’ll sing in the rain when you get a chance.
