Finding It in Your Heart to Forgive

I blogged about forgiveness last week, which you can see here, and I want to reiterate it this morning. Normally, I am quick to forgive and I find grudges to be as unhealthy as a pack of cigarettes. It contaminates you. So I wanted to delve a little deeper into this issue of forgiveness this morning because, quite frankly, I am having a very hard time forgiving someone.I’m seeking forgiveness this morning because I don’t like feeling consumed by so much anger toward a person. It’s not like me. I don’t like my thoughts to be burdened by it and I don’t like my heart to be weighed down by the severity of it. It’s literally impossible, as I have found the past few weeks, to feel happy when you’re harboring anger, resentment, and frustration. So I’m trying to let go today and seek guidance as I attempt to forgive.Have you found yourself in this position before?I thought I’d share some quotes that I found—quotes that remind me how healing forgiveness can be—for yourself.“Forgiveness is a virtue of the brave.”—Indira Gandhi“Forgiveness is like faith; you have to keep reviving it.”—Mason Cooley“Forgiveness is the economy of the heart... forgiveness saves the expense of anger, the cost of hatred, the waste of spirits.”—Hannah More“Forgiveness is the final form of love.”—Reinhold NiebuhrAnd my favorite: “Forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself.”—Suzanne SomersKeep shining,The Sunny Girl, Lauren Cook
