The Gift that Keeps on Giving

How often do you pull out your camera? Are you letting life pass you by without making note of it? I know it can be a hassle to go through the routine of settling everyone down to smile, but I think it is always worth capturing a moment—especially when it’s unplanned (but only the best photographers can do this without looking creepy—you know the kind, who try to catch you laughing and then you’re not genuinely laughing anymore because you know someone is waiting to take your picture). I digress.Taking the time to take pictures is a long term gift you give yourself. No, it is not an opportunity to see how your tummy is looking or how your hair line is appearing--it’s a time to treasure the smile you had on your face. Hopefully it is genuine. When we capture our favorite times with our favorite people, we can keep those memories with us forever. I always smile when I look back on my pictures—it’s like reliving those magical moments all over again. With summer drawing to a close, I encourage you to take those last snapshots of summer—and be sure to take plenty during the school year. Take pictures of the scenery, the events, and most importantly, the people. I always smile when I see someone else smiling. Give the gift of photography wherever you go—it’s the gift that keeps on giving.Keep shining,The Sunny Girl, Lauren Cook
