Goodbye Grandma, Rest in Peace!
It’s been quite a week. Last Saturday my grandma was at our house eating breakfast, it was nothing out of the ordinary. In fact, she seemed like she felt better than usual for 91 years old. But one week later, on this Saturday, she is gone. She went to Heaven last night and she can now rest in peace. When I went to my grandma’s bedside yesterday we said prayers and kept the room calm. We were all talking about what we loved most about her, what we’ll miss about her, and what we learned most from her. It’s been challenging for me because quite frankly, I have never been very close with my grandma. But still, surely there was something that I loved about her.It was that she brought my mom into this world. I love my mom so dearly and through this whole process of my grandma’s passing, I have wanted to be a rock for my mom. My mom has loved me unconditionally, just as she loved my grandma and everyone else she has met and for that, I am so grateful to have her in my life.I’m so glad that my mom is alright today, the first morning with my grandma not alive. I can’t imagine what it’d be like losing your mom, I know that I’ll miss mine so much when that day comes. But once again, my mom is a shining example of grace, peace, and love as she copes with her mom’s passing. We are planning the funeral for next Saturday. I’m sure it will be a day of celebration. Even in death, there is still happiness to be had in a life that was fully lived.Thank you so much to everyone who has extended their prayers and love to our family. It is so very much appreciated.Keep shining,The Sunny Girl, Lauren Cook
