Just yesterday while I was waiting for my yoga class to begin I read an article in “Woman’s Day” magazine regarding happiness. Happiness seems to be a hot topic these days- everybody wants it and it seems most generally have it. According to this magazine, 67% of people are “happy enough”, but only 11% are “blissfully” happy. When I woke up this morning, I would describe myself as “happy enough” but I definitely did not sing and dance to the kitchen to make my oatmeal. I have been exceptionally happy before though; but what is the trick? Through this blog- and your input- I hope to find out!
While happiness seems to be a popular craze for adults- my generation, the young adults of today, still hasn’t been bitten by the happiness bug. I think we often see happiness in our future; our graduation, our wedding day, the perfect job, or our children. I often hear people my age wishing away their lives: “I can’t wait for this semester to be over”, “I can’t wait for it to be summer”, or “I can’t wait for the weekend”- but what about today? There is no waiting for today: it is already here.
This blog is dedicated to young adults. We have the opportunity TODAY to decide what and who makes us happy- why not do those things and be with those people as much as possible? So many adults wake up in a mid life crisis because they didn’t follow their “happy trail” when they were young. Don’t be ashamed of what makes you happy- embrace it! And if you are not a young adult- I invite you to still participate. The best lessons come from life experiences and I would love it if you still shared your wisdom.
I leave you with this quote for today:
“Change your mind. Then change it again because nothing is permanent. So make as many mistakes as you can. That way, someday, when they ask again what we want to be… We won’t have to guess. We’ll know.”
Yes, that is from the new movie Eclipse from the Twilight Saga. I told you this blog was dedicated to young adults!
