The Unexpected

I love when life takes you by surprise. There’s nothing better than ending a day that was better than you expected. I always like to plan my life out, but I’ve learned this year that sometimes the best days are the ones that weren’t meticulously planned. And while it can be disappointing for dead set plans to fall through, I think it can inspire creativity and laughter if we handle it right.
Yesterday was one of those days. Yes, it was Valentine’s Day (which made it all the better), but it was also a day of surprises. Especially since I live in a sorority house, you can imagine how romantic things got around here. With flowers and chocolates delivered to my doorstep (even though I wasn’t there to receive them!), it was a day where I couldn’t help but smile. I’m sure the unplanned dance party in the bathroom and the chocolate strawberries made by our cooking staff made for the wonderful day, too.
Normally I don’t journal on my blog but the point I’m trying to make is that we should appreciate and remember each day, especially the special ones. Studies show that when we write memories down, we are much more likely to remember them—I’m trying to improve on that! Life can pass us by so quickly if we don’t stop to remember what happened, what was said, or who we spent our time with.
Yesterday was a lovely day. I love a day when you see people you didn’t think you’d get to see and when you do things you didn’t think you’d get to do.
Keep shining,
