Time Ticking By

It’s getting close to the end of the year (many of you are probably already out on summer break!) but no matter where you are, enjoy your time! People love to do count downs of how many days they have left, but you know me—why wish your time away? Time is a precious gift that you can never get back. Besides, I think this is one of the best times in our lives. Our friends are readily available, gents are still gentlemanly, and we can afford that extra donut. Who would want to wish away all of that?People love to anticipate summer but quite frankly, I’m a little sad for it. I love living with my fun-loving roommates and having my best friends right down the hall. Living in a house full of 54 girls might sound overwhelming but it’s actually a blast. You get used to dance parties, chatting at all hours, and laughing constantly. Just a normal day. I doubt that I’ll be laughing constantly (though quite a lot) when I’m home alone. No offense, Kiko (but only a cat can do so much). I’m going to miss UCLA so much this summer and everything that comes along with it.But I know home will be equally fun in its own way. I’ll have time to catch up with my parents, finish my book, and start my internship. So there is a lot to look forward to. But I don’t want to look forward all too much…I just want to enjoy today.Whether you’re happy at school or at home (hopefully both), cherish your time and enjoy the benefits of both. But let’s be present wherever we are. Thinking about the future won’t get us there any faster and it will just make us more anxious. I love the quote, “Don’t be sad that’s it’s over…be glad that it happened.” Well, “it’s” happening right now, so let us be glad in it.Keep shining,The Sunny Girl, Lauren Cook
