The Spirit of the Season

It’s Christmas mania here. I know every line of “Christmas Vacation,” my eyes are burning from the massive amount of onions cooking, and my head is whirring with none other than Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas Collection. “I still want a hula hoop!” You know the one. With so much madness, it’s important to still find peace in our hearts and minds.
I took a yoga class last night and it was the perfect way to get that peace that I needed. I think it can be so easy to get wrapped up in all of the madness. Literally—I’ve been wrapping presents endlessly! But in all seriousness, as we approach one of the most special days of the year, I encourage you to take a deep breath and just relax. No matter what you’re doing this year, whether you’re with your family, your friends, or your goldfish, try to find it in your heart to remember the true meaning of the holiday season.
To give and to love.
More than the presents, more than the food, and more than all the decorations, may we simply enjoy each other’s company. It’s been a tradition for me to watch family videos around this time of year and it saddened me to see how things can change. As we celebrate this year’s Christmas, some of the people who were in those videos are no longer with us. It was a reminder of how we need to treasure the people that we have in our lives TODAY. So much can happen in a year; let us be thankful for the blessings that we have right now and may we be thankful for the happiness that we share together!
Keep shining,
The Sunny Girl, Lauren Cook
